In this chemical reaction what would "n" be?

In this example n represents any number. The equation is showing the breakdown of starch to glucose. Starch is a repeating chain of glucose molecules that are linked together. The breakdown is when one of those glucose pieces is separated from the starch chain (by the addition of water, H2O). So n basically represents the size of the starch chain, ie. any number larger than 1.
