Number 2 Few & Far between?

Sometimes I can eat my 3 meals a day for about a week straight and not have a feeling or urge to sit on the throne. I went to my doctor and she told me I need more fiber so I decided to give it a shot. I bought some bran bars and Activia the bars have 3-6 grams of fiber each and the Activia well I don't know I just know its supposed to help. The bars didn't help at all they actually made it harder to go when I could go, the Activia seemed to help me go steady for a few days but now I'm back to 4 days which is better than 7. For the record I drink 8-10 cups of plain ole water a day and I don't eat fast food or chips or junkfood (I do have the old bowl of chips every couple weeks). Help me please : (
