What does House of Un-American Affairs mean?

The term "un-American" was applied during the McCarthy era to anyone who didn't blindly follow what they told you you should so if you were a Communist, a Socialist, an Anarchist, if you supported dialogue with so-called rogue nations, if you disagreed with any of America's policies, pretty much anyone who wasn't blindly conservative and patriotic, you were labeled 'un-American'. It's pretty much what Bush tried to do but on a bigger scale. If you want to learn more about it you can watch the George Clooney directed film Good Night, and Good Luck. It's based on real events.
