About "the hobbit"?.............?

i just finished reading "the hobbit," and i have just fallen in love with this book! i can see why this book has become a clic; it's fabulous and very charming the way it was written. a friend lent me the lord of the rings trilogy, which i haven't watched yet because i wanted to finish this book first, since it is the prelude to the lotr storyline. has there been a movie made for "the hobbit"? if not, i hope they make one, it would be brilliant....
